Takayuki and Haruka have the big talk at the beach side. Takayuki comments that he still loves Mitsuki, and Haruka understands that the Takayuki she sees is a completely different person that the guy she loved in high school. Akane finds Haruka’s book, Mayaru’s Gift and starts reading it, while Haruka shares the same story to Takayuki. The result of that story prompts Takayuki to make one last attempt at love. But who will he pick, and will she pick him back?

Rumbling Hearts Episode 13 - The Past Will Catch Up

Haruka has awakened, but she knows that time has passed, and the doctors and family aren’t pretending anymore. She asks Takayuki if he is seeing anyone, but Takayuki replies he isn’t (considering he and Mitsuki had just broken up). Haruka asks Akane to find Mitsuki, and she obliges. While Takayuki talks with his boss and Mr. Ito about his career, Mitsuki tells Haruka about her developed relationship and breakup with Takayuki. Later on, Takayuki bumps into the pink-haired nurse, and after a café chat, decides he can’t run away from his problems. He returns to the hospital, where Haruka is doing her physical therapy with stronger determination. Rumbling Hearts Episode 11 - Where the Blame Lies

Haruka’s condition turns worse as the shock of last episode’s events puts her back in her coma. Takayuki feels the pain and although he is growing ill, he spends all night waiting at the hospital and all day looking for Akane, who has gone missing. Meanwhile, Mitsuki and Shinji deal with their morning after, and whether they have a relationship or had just done more damage to the existing ones.

When Haruka receives the children’s book, she starts to ponder how time seems to have stood still at the hospital, but then realizes her hair has grown quite long. On the next visits, Haruka persistently confronts Takayuki on how much time has truly passed, and while Takayuki hesitates to give an answer, Akane suddenly reveals the shattering truth about what’s been going on! Meanwhile, Mitsuki tells Shinji about her relationship situation.

Mitsuki finally visits Haruka, but all Haruka can talk about is how often Takayuki visits, and how much she loves Takayuki. In desperation to save her relationship, Mitsuki bans Takayuki from visiting Haruka daily. Takayuki obliges, but instead of spending more quality time with Mitsuki, he opts to avoid the situation with extra work shifts. After one night, Takayuki notices Akane across the street, looking depressed. Worried that Haruka might be in trouble, Takayuki rushes to the hospital, despite what Mitsuki said.
